Fire Truck

Many backpackers will be up in smoke for a different reason but this Sydney Hostel caused a mass evacuation of the reported 35 patrons that were staying there last week.

Approximately 7-8 fire trucks arrived in front of the Parramatta road backpackers hostel in Concord, with two patrons being being taken to hospital for burns and smoke inhalation.

Acting Superintendent Josh Turner from Fire and Rescue New South Wales said the fire started around 5:45pm (AEST) on Wednesday the 16th of July.

The Acting Super went on to say that “Upon arrival they found the building smoke-logged with fire in the ground floor area,”
“The upstairs was full of smoke. Fire crews conducted search and rescue operations in the first floor area and assisted four people from the front of the building who’ve been handed over to the ambulance.
