5. Shout every backpacker in your hostel a box of goon and have a massive party

We were originally going to base the calculation on the fact that a box of Sonata Estate soft fruity lexia is $8.99 but then found the value was with buying two for $16.65. This means you can shout 310 people an extra 21 if you get the 2 case combo!

If you want to get a barbeque going we would recommend the following:

$2,150 Goon
$400 Snags, Bread and Sauce
$50 for a washing line to play goon of fortune, maybe get two or three to heat things up.
A prayer that you get good weather

This would be some party and should be to cater for 260 people. Obviously you may want to let your hostel know you are throwing the party in advance 😛 Or hit St Kilda Beach were you can drink during the day!

4. 30 Minute Jet Fighter Ride – Up to 900km/h at 6gs

Well we couldn’t resist, for $2700 you can get a jet suit and helmet on and really feel like a boss!

“This flight is not for the faint hearted. This 30 minute jet fighter flight will have you depart Sydney’s Camden jet base, for an cruise around the blue mountains followed by and extreme session of aerobatics to see the aircrafts full potential followed by a low level simulated bombing run to top it all off.“

Definitely a once in lifetime experience, unless you’ve done your military service before coming on a working holiday

2. Spend 7 Nights In Bora Bora – French Polynesia

We’ve all seen the photos of the clear oceans and majestic beach huts, why not treat yourself to 7 nights in the magical Bora Bora islands in French Polynesia. Fiji and Vanuatu are part of the Australian Working Holiday Bucket List but who has done Bora Bora? For $2500-$3500 there’s all inclusive packages with flights from Sydney or Melbourne to Bora Bora.

1. Charter a Yacht in the Whitsundays

Starting from $1500 to charter a yacht – $500 for booze and food and $300 for food, your tax refund should be able to cover this day out for you and your best mates. I don’t even think the flashiest of flashpackers have tried this one before. We’re not talking about jumping on a tour, this is a private party! Imagine cruising around in luxury, sipping on cocktails and soaking up the Aussie sun with your mates!

Now that’s spending your $2600 like a boss!!

Still Confused?

Just get your refund and have a laugh! If you’re still confused about what a tax refund is, I am sure you want to get yours asap.
