There is nothing I would regret more than not writing a blog! I know it is a bit of work, but it is definitely worth doing while on your working holiday visa and here are 9 reasons why

9. All Your Memories In One Spot

I love to go through my blog and revel in memories. Here are all the wonderful stories and the best pictures of the best time of my life …or at least of the time since I travel. I really regret that I didn’t write a blog all my life, cause there is just so many things that are worth sharing. I don’t want to know how many awesome things in my life I already forgot, but the thought of it already makes me said. Some of you may keep a diary, I tried it as well… I have a whole drawer full of diaries that first 5 pages are full of conviction and hope to use this diary for more than a week. But you know how the story ends there.

If I ever stop traveling I want to print my whole blog and make a book out of it. It`s an awesome present for yourself, family, friends and maybe the best bedtime story for your children one day.

8. No pressure

You decide how often you want to update your blog and how much time and effort you want to put into it.

Of course it would be perfect if it was regularly and 100% complete, but if you work for example for 3 months at the same job, live at the same place and do the same things, you don’t have to write every week whats been happening.

I try to update my blog at least every 3 weeks, but in the beginning it was more often and in between it was a bit less… I just recognized if I had a long break in between post it means more work.

7. No spam on facebook

Yes you are so cool to travel the world and experience new travel adventures every day, but most of us travel quite a long time and for your friends and family after a while it can get a bit annoying if you showed off with your awesome beach pics, different city every week, party every night-your only problems are jet lags, hangovers and maybe now and then a flat battery in your camera, because you took too many pictures of sweet koalas and wonderful sunsets at the beach-again!- While they have to fight the daily grind

If you were lucky they just stop following you, in the worst case that’s how you loose a facebook friend.

6. Nobody comments your posts

There are probably different websites to open up your own blog. I chose tumblr.com , because nobody can comment my pictures or texts. Maybe it`s nice when your friends are interested in what you are doing and want to interfere in every single thing… but I decided that this is my adventure and didn’t want to get affected by all the different people, especially because I think that I see many things completely different after all my traveling so I don’t want to discuss everything with people that see things different than me. On top of that now you are the one who decides how important and valuable a memory is for you and not the number of likes and comments you get.

Now I will be regularly posting on Working Holiday Jobs so please follow my posts.

5. Use your time

When you are bored laying in a camper van, cause it`s raining and there is absolutely nothing to do. Why don’t you just use this time to write your blog! Even the most boring day can get better if you share your memories, you will get a free smile on your face.

4. Better than a diary

At first it is not as strict as a diary- I know nobody else would control if I really write my diary every day, but that’s the point in it, isn’t it?! So every time I skipped a day, I gave up…

You don’t just hold on to all the awesome memories, but keep your family and friends on track, without focusing on this – cause this could change the real story if you are afraid of what others think.

It can be as private and personal as a diary if you want to, cause you decide who you give the website name or not!

3. It is for free

You can have your own website, learn how to install and design everything, which you will maybe need one day, and on most of the websites you don’t even have to pay for it! –or- if your blog was really popular you may even make money with advertising on it! Blog for us! The best bloggers on working holiday jobs receive perks.

2. Showcase your best pictures

At first you actually look at all the pictures that you took! And secondly: I took over 15.000 pictures and videos since I started traveling and I doubt that I will ever have the patience to search through them all as carefully as I do it now in small pieces.

Now I have all the best pictures already sorted out and I don’t have to torture my family later with houses from 15 different angles. They just get to see the best ones 😉

1. No Excuses

Even if you didn’t bring your own laptop to your travels there is always an internet café around the corner-so no excuses!

I hope I could inspire you for investing a bit of your valuable traveling time and work into a blog! I am really so happy to have one and you will definitely not regret it either 😉
