Visa Information

After much speculation the government is going ahead and make the age change that was part of the backpacker tax negotiations.

The new legislation amendments were announced on the 27th of June 2017 and will be effective for the 417 and 462 Working Holiday Visas.

It seems the change will come into place July 1 2017 but we are still seeking confirmation

The WHV Visa Age will now be 18-35 instead of 18-30! This is huge! We thought the government may have been stalling it looks like they are coming through with the goods.

What else you should know about the Backpacker Tax

 
 

If you didn’t know, it’s tax time! Things have now changed compared to last financial year, for example Working Holiday Makers are no longer eligible for the tax free threshold. The backpacker tax rate is now 15% on every dollar earned.
 

Do you actually know what the new tax laws are?
 
Do you know if you are a resident or not for tax?
 
Has your employer been withdrawing the right amount of tax?
