Harrison Barratt Group is a leading labour hire & white collar recruitment company based in Sydney's Inner West. Due to high demand and expanding growth we are seeking experienced Site Supervisors with a proven work history in the industry to join our team.

About the company:  
Our client is an established Mining crusher maintenance company. They are a highly respected brand with a state-wide presence and a lot of work in the pipeline over the next few years. They have a great management team that cultivates talent and believe in promoting from within. They have an approachable management team, great culture as well as regular rewards and social events. They primarily work on shutdown around Australia, however, based out of Orange NSW.   
About the Role: 
Our client is seeking a Site Leading hand with strong Engineering experience.
Who wants to be developed into a supervisor. This role is open to people who currently live locally in orange and surrounding suburbs as well as someone who wants to move and start and successful career in the mining maintenance industry.     

Our expectations include:

  • To be physically fit and mobile
  • Be able to pass a Drug & Alcohol test and
  • Have a valid Police Check <6mths old. More than half or our current our client's customers require a police check and anyone with a police record or chargeable offences (other than speeding fines etc) will most likely not be allowed on site. This will not exclude them from selection but will limit them to be used on only 2 of our current 5 sites we service.

Primarily Responsible For:
The successful planning, delivery, frontline supervision and safe execution of
maintenance operations and related works within our client's facilities and on client sites.

Required Qualifications:

  • Engineering Trade Qualified
  • Industry recognised supervisor training – S1, S2, S3, G2. (Or be able to start training)
  • First Aid Certificate

Required Level of Experience:

  • Five (5) years’ industry experience as an engineering/maintenance tradesperson in heavy plant maintenance.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in similar supervisory capacity would be preferred however not essential.
  • Shall possess sound knowledge of company standards, code of conduct, safe systems of work and organizational skills whilst having the ability to follow schedules and take accountability for self.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervision of trades resources to deliver assigned Scope of Work with a strong focus on safety and quality of workmanship whilst ensuring all works are conducted in compliance to HBG and Client Safety Management Systems whilst ensuring effective monitoring & coordination of workflow efficiency.
  • To assist with training and mentoring the development of all direct reports in line with our client's values.
  • Ensuring completion of QA inspections of all works to ensure task completion have met required standards, check the inventory of delivered goods and monitoring of hire equipment to minimise cost i.e.: Access equipment, Power providers and gas cylinders etc.
  • Increase the effectiveness and efficiency of work practices through a problem-solving approach and ensuring all tasks undertaken meet timelines, whilst maintaining professional liaison with customers, stakeholders and other departments.
  • Ensure WHS compliance such as PPE compliance to workplace requirements, completion of Incident Reports / Hazard Reports / SBO’s. Participate in Production Meetings and complete Non-Compliance Reports (NCR’s) for QA, Over-budget and Re-work. Report against job losses recorded in Monthly P&L.
  • Actively seek sales opportunities
  • Provision of supervision to ensure the FFP upkeep and accountability of all company-owned tooling, plant and equipment.

Key Accountabilities Quality:

  • Ensuring provision of robust /quality preparations for planned works.
  • Detailed review of supplied schedules to confirm Scope of Work.
  • Development and review of Detailed Job Plans, JSEA’s, Tooling Inventories, and other required documentation.
  • Execute tactile confirmation of parts, materials and equipment required for the works. i.e. identification of long lead-time items
  • Ensure any hazards or concerns are controlled and escalated.
  • Ensure any assigned risk assessment actions are completed within the required timeframe.
  • Provision of frontline supervision, during execution phase of works. Inspect all
    works during execution phase to ensure job quality throughout.
  • Exercise judgement in relation to job requirements and escalate any issues to management in a timely manner.
  • Conduct final QA inspection of plant and equipment prior to handback.
  • Ensure housekeeping and closeout of a workplace prior to demobilisation.
  • Provide constructive support to internal & external planning staff in the development of detailed job plans, schedules and resourcing requirements.
  • Ensure all resources and assets are utilised efficiently and correctly.
  • Maintain effective time management of self & direct reports.
  • Ensure compliance to work schedules and strive to ensure scheduling
    requirement are delivered.
  • Ensure regular and accurate progress feedback/updates are provided to management and prompt escalation of any potential delays.
  • Provide input and coordination of emergent work within agreed parameters.

Safety & Environment:

  • Ensure any safety and environmental hazards or concerns are escalated and effective controls are in place
  • Carries out all duties in compliance with the Workplace Health and Safety Act and in compliance with other statutory requirements and customer requirements as required
  • Participate in the development of an environmentally safe and healthy workplace

Customer Liaison

Scheduling Accountabilities:

  • Provide constructive support to internal & external planning staff in the development of detailed job plans, schedules and resourcing requirements.
  • Ensure all resources and assets are utilised efficiently and correctly.
  • Maintain effective time management of self & direct reports.
  • Ensure shutdown schedules are developed with responsible/achievable
  • Ensure task milestones are continually assessed to measure “actual v’s plan”
    and strive to ensure scheduling requirement are safely delivered.

    management and prompt escalation of any potential delays.
  • Provide input and coordination of emergent work within agreed parameters.
  • Ensure timely 360 communication with internal & external stakeholders.

Site-Specific Accountabilities - Shutdown & weekly Plan Readiness & Execution:

  • Ensure all tooling & task-specific equipment resource is fit for purpose (FFP) and mobilised to worksite through effective coordination of personnel & logistics
  • Ensure the development of work-packs including Workorders, JSEA’s, SOP’s,
    QA inspection sheets, & tooling & consumable inventories.
  • Ensure timely mobilisation of all tooling, part & consumables to work-front prior
    to the commencement of works.
  • Assist company resource scheduling to confirm pre-shut, shutdown & post-shut labour & equipment requirements.
  • Liaise with customer & company stakeholders to forecast upcoming works.
