Hey folks, I’ve been thinking about upgrading my old mountain bike. I still love hitting trails on the weekends, but honestly, those steep climbs are starting to feel like punishment rather than fun. I keep seeing people talk about e-MTBs, but I’m wondering—do they actually feel like “real” biking or more like riding a scooter with pedals? I don’t want to lose the workout part, but I’d love to enjoy the ride without gasping for air halfway up the hill. Anyone here made the switch?

I had the exact same doubts before I took the plunge. Trust me, riding an electric mountain bike is still very much real cycling—you’re still pedaling, you’re still putting in effort, but the motor gives you that extra push when you hit brutal inclines. For me, it turned weekend rides back into something I look forward to, not something I dread. I got mine from https://www.merkx.com.au/collections/electric-mountain-bikes
, and they’ve got a solid range of e-MTBs. What I like is the flexibility—you can ride with little to no assistance on flat trails, then kick in the motor on climbs to save your legs. I still end up sweaty and feeling like I worked out, but with a massive grin because I’m not destroyed after every ride.
