Greece Joins Australian Work and Holiday 462 Visa Scheme

With the second most amount of Greeks in any one city being in Australia, ( Melbourne) it was only a matter of time before a work and holiday agreement was signed between the two countries. Freak Accident Takes Life of Backpacker

Stefanie Wiedenroth a German Backpacker on an Australian Working Holiday Visa was working on a sheep farm in Western Australia where she tragically died in March when struck by lightning. Ms Wiedenroth was in a critical condition at Royal Perth Hospital since being struck on what appeared to be a normal days work. At the time when the lightning struck it was reported that their was also 4 other people who catapulted to the grown, but none obtained serious injuries. New Homely Hostel set for Bundaberg

Backpackers up in Smoke

Many backpackers will be up in smoke for a different reason but this Sydney Hostel caused a mass evacuation of the reported 35 patrons that were staying there last week. Approximately 7-8 fire trucks arrived in front of the Parramatta road backpackers hostel in Concord, with two patrons being being taken to hospital for burns and smoke inhalation. Acting Superintendent Josh Turner from Fire and Rescue New South Wales said the fire started around 5:45pm (AEST) on Wednesday the 16th of July.
