Stefanie Wiedenroth Lightning Strike

Stefanie Wiedenroth a German Backpacker on an Australian Working Holiday Visa was working on a sheep farm in Western Australia where she tragically died in March when struck by lightning.

Ms Wiedenroth was in a critical condition at Royal Perth Hospital since being struck on what appeared to be a normal days work.

At the time when the lightning struck it was reported that their was also 4 other people who catapulted to the grown, but none obtained serious injuries. The owner of the Farm, Mr Major, was 25 metres from Ms Wiedenroth when the tragic accident occurred.

Worksafe conducted an investigation on the farm where Ms Wiedenroth was completing her 2nd Year Visa Job. Mr Major was cleared of negligence, with Worksafe stating that he was not in breach of any laws.

This is a very tragic and unfortunate incident. We wish the Wiedenroth Family all the best in the future and are sorry for their loss.

If you know someone who has suffered a tragic accident while on a Working Holiday and would like to share the story please let us know. We will publish it on site for everyone to read.
