Tragedy has struck German Wings Flight 4U9525 from Barcelona to Dusseldorf. The A320 was on its 2nd flight of the day, having earlier left Dusseldorf for Barcelona. The

  • Flight 4U9525 left Barcelona enrolee to Dusseldorf
  • The Aircraft was a Airbus A320
  • 150 people were on board including two babies ( 45 Spaniards, 67 Germans, 2 Australians – more details to follow) /li>
  • Flight 4U9595 crashed in the French Alps
  • The Black box has been found
  • Weather in set to deteriorate which will hinder search efforts
  • The captain had more than 10 years of experience and had clocked up more than 6,000 flight hours on the Airbus model.
  • There is uncertainty over weather a distress call was made
  • A school party was on board
  • Search efforts have been suspended overnight due to the difficulty of the task

Plane Maintenance

The chief executive of Germanwings,Thomas Winkelmann was quoted saying “there were no irregular aspects with the plane, one of the earlier A320s, which was delivered to Lufthansa in 1991 and had been in service for Germanwings since 2001”. “As long as you have your maintenance schedule in place with the manufacturers, there is absolutely no issue with the age of an aeroplane,” he said.
