Not the kind of itchy feet where you need to see a doctor, I’m talking about the “itchy feet” you get when you feel the need to explore your horizons.

Whether it being the complete start of your trip where you quit your job back home, pack a bag and hope to never return or if you’ve been on the go for a while and you want the feeling of turning up somewhere completely new where no soul knows your name or your story.

So here’s a list of signs that you need to re-pack your bag and get your feet onto some new soil..

1. You feel uneasy about the place you’re in, things don’t feel right in the moment.

2. You live for the weekends when you’re away from your current reality.

3. You spend hours daydreaming about new places to see with your very own eyes and not just on Instagram.

4. You want to be somewhere where no one has a clue who you are, where you’ve been or what your name is.

5. You’re bored. You can’t sit still and be totally content with your current situation.

6. You get immensely jealous about people posting pictures and travel plans on social media and you wish that you were THAT person.

7. You want to feel complete freedom. All you need to worry about is a place to crash the night, a meal in your belly and how many memories and cool photographs you can capture.

8. You start to not care about the nitty gritty details and organisation on how to get from A to B, you just make it work.

9. You’ve ticked off what you came to that place to do and there’s nothing left to keep you there.

10. Things start to feel too normal and planned. There’s not a huge buzz anymore the excitement has faded.

Some people travel to see as much as they can and spend short bursts of time in different places and some stay in a place for the majority of their trip getting comfortable in a job and situation and end up doing short and sweet get-aways.

No matter what your style of travel, everyone at some point will feel the urge to move on.
Travelling isn’t for everyone but I bet everyone feels that feeling of wanting to make a huge lifestyle change at least once in their life.

So pack up your bag (again), let your hair down and walk barefoot along a beach and soothe those “itchy feet”.

Hi, I'm Laurie. I'm just another young adult escaping the scary grown up world by travelling, working, and experiencing some pretty rad things. I've been working and travelling the vast corners of the planet on and off for the last 7 years and I've had a fair amount of mostly ups, a few downs and incredible experiences. I'm currently in Australia for the good part of two years and here are some of my Aussie stories and thoughts from one backpacker to another. Happy travels, Laurie :)
